NCSCSL-TEENS1-11/09

Hi everyone, You need to attend the final exam on Nov. 23rd, before the vacation of Thanksgiving. This semester we learned from chapter 11 My Pets to the last chapter My Room so that our test range includes these chapters. You also need to review the words related to colors. I'd already introduce the structure of this test in class. The first part is multiple choices. You need to choose the most suitable answer from the following four options. The second part requires you to use pinyin to spell the name of each item according to the following pictures. The third part is about circling the radical of each character and the fourth part needs you to use words, phrases, or sentences to describe a picture. The fifth part requires you to write a short essay related to your home and your room. You need to pay more attention to the last part: make a conversation with your partner. Before this test, you should find a partner and practice with him or her. You can pick whatever you want t

Hello everyone! Last Saturday we reviewed the chapter 14 My stationary and started to learn chapter 15 My house. Since you did not have homework for nearly three weeks, I want you to complete the homework for chapter 14 and 15 this time. Some of you were absent on October 5th, so I highly recommend you to utilize the following links to learn the vocabulary and text in chapter 14 independently. If you have some questions, do not hesitate to email me or bring your questions to the next class. Next Saturday we will celebrate Halloween. Although we will not attend the trick or treat activity with other classes on the first floor (most of them are little babies), I still want to encourage you to bring some candies or dress up next week! Besides, last week most of you told me that you want to learn some words related to Halloween so that next class, we will not only focus on learning chapter 15 but also learning the new words, phrases or sentences about this festival. I also want to intr

Hi everyone, We learned chapter 12 fruit and vegetables and the background knowledge about the development of radicals and characters this Saturday. Do you still remember the differences between monosyllable and two-syllable words? Which one is more popular in modern Mandarin Chinese? Also, Irene came to our class and taught four tones and new words. In the next class, we will continue watching the YouTube video about the silk road first. Then, some new words about fruit and vegetables will be introduced in the next part. Finally, I hope all of you can use the sentence pattern and new words to create your daily recipe. If possible, please remember to bring your color pencils to class so that you can make your recipe look colorful and fancy. After creating the recipe, you will be invited to do a short presentation and introduce how to implement your healthy diet to the whole class. Homework: Please think about the following question and write down your answer in a piece of paper.

Hello everyone, Greetings from Tianyi, a second-year graduate student from Vanderbilt Peabody college. Thank you for enrolling in Nashville Chinese School and coming to my class in the new semester. During this semester, I hope all of you will actively engage in my class. Although you are here for learning Mandarin Chinese, our target is not limited to the language itself. We will not only focus on improving our language proficiency, but also having a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional cultures and philosophies. In this process, we will explore the historical development and background knowledge of each radical and character together. Also, if some of you are interested in Chinese calligraphy or painting, we could talk more about these topics in class or after class. The syllabus for this semester has been posted by email. This is just th first draft of our syllabus because the specific contents would be adjusted according to your interests and learning progress. If yo
